Personal and professional development is a priority and training forms a part of a career within Council and Shoalhaven Water. We offer opportunities to improve skills and knowledge both through training and development and through daily work. With better-trained people we can achieve a better service to the Community.

Benefits

Employment policies

A number of policies are in place that reflect our commitment to health, safety, diversity and growth:

Balancing work and home

Encouraging all our people to have a healthy balance between work and home we have flexible working arrangements including options of variable working hours and nine day fortnights, depending on the nature of the job.

Equality and diversity

Our Equal Employment Opportunity Management Plan covers gender, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation, race, colour, ethnic or national origin, disability, age and religion or belief.

Health, safety and wellbeing

As you’d expect of a leading water utility, Occupational Health and Safety is high on our agenda, and is a key element of our work ethic and culture.

Communication

Communication is the key to a successful working system. Face-to-face, two-way communication throughout the Group is encouraged and supported. Shoalhaven Water operates under a “team environment” with various work teams responsible for specific elements of the operation. This environment assists communication within the Group and Council.
