More information

Fees and charges

An invoice will be issued to applicants based on the below fees and charges. On payment of invoice, a standpipe or bulk water filling station key will be available for pickup from our Nowra administration building.

Quarterly fee Water usage charge Refundable deposit
25mm standpipe $84.00 $2.75 per kl $336.00
65mm standpipe $136.50 $2.75 per kl $525.00
Bulk water station $1.38 per kl $74.00

Failure to provide quarterly standpipe meter readings will incur a $315.00 per quarter, per standpipe charge.

On return of a standpipe, we will read the meter and deduct any water usage charges from the refundable deposit. Failure to maintain our standpipe or failure to return a cancelled standpipe, will result in harsh penalties.

Failure to return standpipe or hire key

If a standpipe is not returned within 30 days of termination, Shoalhaven Water will issue an invoice for a termination fee. This fee includes:

  • The replacement cost of the standpipe.
  • A failure-to-return charge less the original deposit paid.

If the standpipe is lost or damaged beyond reasonable wear and tear, the hirer will be charged the current replacement cost. In cases of loss, the hirer must provide supporting evidence or a statutory declaration outlining the circumstances.

At the time of issue, Shoalhaven Water records the meter reading on the standpipe as stated in the application.

If the bulk water filling key is not returned or is lost, the hirer will forfeit the hire deposit. All applicable fees become debts payable to Shoalhaven Water.

Lost, stolen or damaged standpipes

The hirer must notify Shoalhaven Water immediately if a standpipe is damaged, lost, or destroyed.

For lost standpipes:

  • The hirer must reimburse the current replacement cost, less the original deposit.
  • Pay any outstanding water usage and availability charges.
  • Submit a new hire agreement if a replacement standpipe is required.

Shoalhaven Water will determine whether a damaged standpipe should be repaired or replaced. The hirer is responsible for preventing damage. If a standpipe is lost or stolen, water usage charges will be estimated based on previous reading periods.

Shoalhaven Water will not charge for repairs or replacement if damage is due to fair wear and tear or a manufacturing fault.
