Demolition information

Before proceeding with the demolition, you will require an approved Development Application and/or Water Development Notice. 

Once you have received approval to proceed, please follow our water and sewerage requirements below to ensure you protect our systems. 

Before you commence with the demolition, here are our disconnection requirements:

Water disconnection requirements

The internal water lines on the property must be disconnected from the existing metered water service(s). Once disconnected, Shoalhaven Water must carry out an inspection to confirm compliance with Council requirements.

Fire services—both metered and unmetered—may only be disconnected downstream of the meter or stop valve (located just inside the property boundary), and only if the fire service is no longer required.

Sewer disconnection requirements

All internal sewer drainage pipes must be flushed, disconnected from the existing sewer junction, and the junction must be temporarily capped.

Shoalhaven Water must inspect the works—at the developer’s or applicant’s cost—to ensure the capping is secure and free from debris that could block the sewer main or disrupt the system’s operation.

Prior to demolition, Shoalhaven Water must inspect the disconnection works to confirm compliance and to ensure our assets are protected. 

Non-compliance with this requirement can result in costly legal action or rectification work.
