Apply for a pensioner concession

You may be eligible if:

• If you own the property and it's your sole or principal residence.
• You hold a current Pensioner Concession Card from Centrelink, or a Gold Card from Department of Veterans' Affairs (meeting specific criteria).

Joint ownership - If the property is jointly owned, each eligible owner must complete a separate application form to receive the full rebate. Otherwise, only a partial rebate will be applied. 

Water accounts are issued quarterly; that's every 3 months. If you become eligible partway through the year, the concession starts from the beginning of the next quarter.

If your eligibility ceases, the concession ends at the end of the current quarter.

Maximum Annual Concession (for fully eligible pensioner): 

• Water Charges (availability + usage): 50% discount, up to $87.50 per year, and
• Sewerage Service Charges: 50% discount, up to $87.50 per year

Further to this, to help with the removal of the interest grace period, each quarter Council will contribute:

• $2.50 towards the water availability charge
• $2.50 towards the sewer availability charge 

Please note: These amounts apply to fully eligible pensioners. If you are not the sole owner of the property, your concession may be reduced proportionally.
