Request a sewer manhole adjustment

Sewer manholes provide access to Council sewer mains, allowing inspections, blockage clearing, and investigation or repair of infiltration. Maintaining clear and safe access is essential.

Property owners, builders, and developers may request a sewer manhole adjustment to raise or lower a manhole to suit works on their property. Requests will be assessed by Shoalhaven Water and, if approved, completed free of charge. Only Council staff or authorised contractors may carry out work on Council-owned sewer infrastructure, including manholes.

Manholes on private property must remain accessible. If they are not, Council may require the owner to make them accessible or arrange the work themselves, which may involve excavation.
